The Five Euro Opera - aka - Trans Ghetto Express

Synopsis

In this mix of party, experimental garage band rehearsal and low-cost opera, migrants, nomads, street artists and others, with their homes on their backs, co-habit with our esteemed audience.

Ópera dos Cinco € - aka - Trans Gueto Express (The Five Euro Opera - aka - Trans Ghetto Express) takes place in an outdoor facility. Border post, outsourced detention camp, checkpoint, ballroom, kermesse, new circus - moneyless (ex-newish-money), fairground theatre, flea market and counterfeiting fair... These are the images from which we started and that shape the relationship between this scenographic object and the spectacular / performative event. Here, too, we continue to work on the idea of structural transversality, which crosses elements from different stage languages such as circus or puppetry. In the bodies and voices of the actors, we look for spaces common to these languages. The appropriation of space in its various scales, of the objects manipulated, of the gaze and listening of the spectators is the path we now have to follow.

This venture brings together three structures / groups / companies: Teatro de Ferro, Radar 360°, Teatro do Frio. With this partnership we seek to experiment with alternative forms of production and their relationship to creative processes.

Let's imagine a small square at dusk. A troupe of bouncers arrives and settles in. Nomads are romantic, aren't they? Look how free and happy they seem. The kids run around freely. The adults, half gypsies, continue to take things out of the trolleys and sing as they do so. Brecht rap and Weill techno. Some of them know how to do really nice skills. They toil away, they can't sit still and yet they move in a time outside of Saturn's rail. This time of theirs - that of a travelling world, of a yolk inside a Columbus egg, of a world in transit - will serve as a mould and mask for our show.
